As depicted in the novel, an impoverished ex-student Rodion Raskolnikov often compared himself with Napoleon Bonaparte and believed he was a superman. With the thought of anarchism and forced by livelihood, he killed usury landlord and her innocent sister to make a murder shocking the whole Russian. After a confession of pain, he finally surrendered with the exhortations of the Christian Sonia and was sentenced to exile Siberia. The psychological change before and after the crime was highlighted in the works, describing his inner heart, lonely and fear state. On one hand, the miserable life of Russian lower class people was depicted in the novel, exposing the evil of aristocratic society. On the other hand, swallowing an insult and seeking relief from religious thoughts are advocated in the novel.)
