As his representative work, Paradise Lost consisted of 12 volumes, and over 10,000 lines. With themes derived from Genesis of Old Testament, this work revealed people's original sin and corruption in an epic and majestic momentum. In the poem, the divinity of rebel Satan was sent to hell for resistance to God's authority. Then he went to the Garden of Eden for revenge. Tempted by the Satan-possessed snake, Adam and Eve ate the fruit on the Tree of Knowledge forbidden by God. Finally, Satan and his associates became snakes. Adam and Eve were also expelled from the Garden of Eden. The poem reflected the poet's lofty spirit for the pursuit of freedom, and was deeply branded with his experiences and understanding of British social, historical and political major events from 1650s to 1660s, showing huge creativity and transcendence as a masterpiece in the world's history of literature and thought. )
